The highly-anticipated Elder Scrolls Online offers players the unique opportunity to explore the Elder Scrolls universe in an MMO perspective. As with any MMO, players have the ability to explore vast regions, battle enemies and engage in thrilling quests. The Elder Scrolls Online sets itself apart when it comes to classes, giving players distinctly more flexibility and customization for their characters. Giving the ability to team up with other players, choosing the best class partner is important to consider.

Each class, while very flexible, offers certain roles for certain situations. When deciding the best class partners, players should take into account many things, including the advantage and disadvantages of a certain class, the quest or mission they’re on, the types of enemies they’re up against, skill trees and other factors.

The four classes in the Elder Scrolls Online include Sorcerers, Dragon Knights, Nightblades, and Templars. While classes are somewhat more restrictive in terms of skills compared to other Elder Scrolls games, each class has excellent flexibility when it comes to weapon and armor types. It’s important to consider the differences between each class when choosing the right partner in the world of Tamriel.

Best Class Partner in ESO

The Sorcerer is a ranged damage dealing class that emphasizes magic, firepower and ranged attacks. Able to specialize in buffing its magic attacks, summoning and dark magic, the Sorcerer is able to dish out massive amounts of damage in a limited time. The class is best used as a partner in situations that require extensive damage dealing in a short amount of time. Sorcerers are great when partnered with tanks like Dragon Knights, creating a powerful duo that can dish out enormous amounts of damage behind the protection of a defensive tank.

The Dragon Knight specializes in damage dealing, close quarters combat and tanking. Although flexible, the Dragon Knight’s primary role is that of a tank and melee damage dealer. The class is best partnered with ranged damage dealers like Sorcerers to tank and shield the other player from damage, while partnering with a Templar is also a great strategy for sustained damage dealing over time.

Nightblades are a unique class that acts as the game’s premier assassin. Specializing in stealth and melee damage, Nightblades are best paired with tanks like Dragon Knights or classes that emphasize healing like Templars.

The Templar is a multipurpose class that can heal as well as tank and dish out damage. It is best partnered with ranged damage dealers like Sorcerers or melee assassins like Nightblades, both combinations of which offer a flexible, versatile combination for tanking, healing and damage dealing.

There are four classes in The Elder Scrolls Online. Each class can specialize in a variety of roles and use whichever weapon types and armor types they prefer, but each class also has a unique feel and playstyle. Each class has three class skill lines to pick and choose active and passive abilities from which will help each individual character stand out from each other.

Templar

The Templar is a holy warrior who uses the power of the sun to smite enemies, protect their allies and heal themselves and everyone around them when the need arises. Templars are a flexible eso class that can choose to go all-out offensively as either a ranged class or a melee class or can choose to heal their allies or take on the role of a tank. Their three skill lines allow them to pick and choose various defensive, healing and offensive talents.

The Templar is also one of the game’s pure healing classes and excels in both group situations and solo situations. Their soloing capabilities and healing abilities make them a fantastic asset to any instance or dungeon environment. Templars may find themselves healing on occasion if no other class is available to do so.

Sorcerer

The Sorcerer is primarily a caster who can can choose between various types of purely offensive talents and abilities or skills that are more supportive in nature. They are also ESO’s only pet-based class. They have one full skill line dedicated to pets and pet damage. Pets are useful for helping the Sorcerer solo and level quickly but are generally not tuned with group gameplay in mind.

Despite the fact that the Sorcerer is primarily a caster, they are still extremely flexible in nature. By swapping between various staff weapons, they change which elemental spells they use and can even quickly turn into a healer by equipping a restoration staff. The main offensive elements are ice, fire and lightning. The Sorcerer can also equip all types of weapons and armor to increase their flexibility, survivability and combat options.

Nightblade

The Nightblade is the rogue/assassin class in Elder Scrolls Online. They can equip all types of weapons and armor, but they are most proficient when dual wielding daggers, one-handed axes or swords. They are masters of stealth and sneaking and can even sneak mid-combat and attack enemies when behind the shadows.

The three skill lines for Nightblades are based around dealing damage, utility and self-heals and damage-over-time abilities. Nightblades can mix talents and passives to create builds efficient for soloing, leveling, grouping and doing as much damage as possible. They are most proficient at dealing high amounts of single-target damage.

Dragonknight

Dragonknights are the iconic warrior class of Elder Scrolls Online and can either serve as a tank or a hard-hitting melee DPS class. They can use all different types of weapons and armor. The three skill lines for Dragonknights are divided among mitigating and avoiding damage, DPS and utility and support. The utility line is based off earth elemental attacks while the DPS line is based off fire abilities and iconic dragon-themed abilities.

While DPS Dragonknights will typically wish to use standard melee weapons such as two-handed swords, axes or maces or dual wield, they can also use weapons such as a fire staff to expand their fire-based arsenal and deal large amounts of damage. While tanking, Dragonknights can use DPS weapon styles or use a one-handed weapon and a shield. Dragonknights deal a large amount of area-of-effect damage especially and are fantastic solo levelers and allies for dungeons and groups.

Let’s talk about the Nightblade, another playable class in Elder Scrolls Online of which very little information is known, if any at all. This article will try to give the best description and information as possible, for you to make your class decision just that much easier when creating a character in Elder Scrolls Online. It is a quick rundown of what you can expect when the game launches, based on past knowledge of the Nightblade.

Contrary to what some may think, the Nightblade is not purely a rogue, thief, or assassin. Although he has the qualities to be all of those 3, Nightblade has his own little flair, and that’s Magic. If you’ve played previous MMOs and you’ve enjoyed a class that can kill from afar, a ranger or sorcerer, but have also had some enjoyment in the classes that can perform quick little engages in combat like a rogue, then the Nightblade is perfect for you. Not only is he equipped with fast DPS abilities, but he’s usually accompanied with destruction magic. A typical Nightblade could decide to use his destruction magic to engage in combat with a life-draining spell, and then quickly dispatch his enemy with his blades.

On top of that, the Nightblade is one of the most mobile classes in Elder Scrolls Online, wearing medium armor such as leather. With their agility and stamina, they are able to chase down their opponents. Stamina, partnered with health, is their key to survival. Nightblades in previous test games were typically seen with Illusion, Sneak, Destruction, and light armor, which gives you somewhat of an idea of what you could see in Elder Scrolls Online. The class will not be equipped with any disguises or anything, because like the Sneak, that’s merely an item that any class can wear.

You might be asking, “What is the point to the Nightblade if his core abilities and function that make a Nightblade a Nightblade are shared by all the classes?” It’s the fact that right from the launch of ESO, we know that there are 4 classes: Dragonknight, Templar, Sorcerer, and Nightblade. The Dragonknight and his abilities mainly focus around tanking, some damage, and CC. The Templar is seen as the healer or Paladin class, and the Sorcerer as a strong damage class. But DPS is missing in the abovementioned. The Nightblade fully completes the whole circle, since it is the only real, fast attacking, good DPS class.

If you’d rather sit back, survey the scene, maybe take a few bow-and-arrow shots before engaging in combat, and then proceeding to kill everyone with quick attacks, running and weaving through the field of battle; then you can expect to see yourself in the shoes of a Nightblade.
